Job Description

The Financial Adviser is responsible for the delivery of personal advice to the Company members which is aligned with the Company’s strategy and key business outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provision of personal financial advice to members of Mine Superannuation Fund (face-to-face; video conference and telephone advice)
  • Completion of Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) guidelines as per their required timeframes (currently 01 January 2024)
  • Provide comprehensive advice to members comprising of multiple complex strategies
  • Identify and communicate to members additional areas where the Company can provide advice
  • Ensure effective communication (both verbal and written) with members to develop strong client relationships
  • Comply with Mine Superannuation Fund, regulatory, and licensing requirements in delivery of advice
  • Produce work which complies with RG175 best interest duty and meets compliance requirements, contains accurate information and service standards
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of ongoing member advice communication and education, including current and accurate seminars and workshops
  • Use all approved financial planning tools available to prepare clear and concise Statements of Advice to members
  • Record accurate file notes in a timely manner and maintain client files in accordance with business processes
  • Work with Advice Service team to enable the preparation of advice that meets licensing compliance requirements
  • Ensure all advice documents are accurate prior to presentation to the member
  • Respond to day-to-day general superannuation or advice related queries from members either by telephone, video conference or face to face
  • Satisfy requirements of the annual training plan and maintain CPD register
  • Research and maintain technical knowledge of products and trends in financial planning, investment markets, industry and legislative changes to allow for the provision of complex superannuation and non-superannuation advice, including:
    • Structures such as companies, trusts, superannuation funds etc
    • Cashflow management and budgeting
    • Debt advice
    • Superannuation – including self-managed super funds
    • Wealth creation strategies
    • Defined Benefit superannuation analysis
    • Retirement income streams
    • Social Security analysis
    • Tax minimisation strategies
    • Redundancy planning
    • Risk Insurance
    • Estate planning
    • Other identified products.
  • Support other teams within the Company with customer follow-up
  • Actively promote brand awareness and customer value proposition internally and externally
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on key deliverables
  • Provide support to your peers to help others strengthen their specific knowledge or skills
  • Take action to improve existing practices and processes, by identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas and implementing solutions
  • Build and maintain relationships with the wider business, sharing best practice and identifying ways to improve member experience
  • Ensure our integrity is maintained and risk exposure minimised by adhering to policies and procedures, including appropriate review of materials 
  • Keep abreast of best practices, new technologies, industry knowledge and trends; make recommendations and oversee incorporation as appropriate
  • Understand the wider business strategic plan and direction and is able to articulate how customer management contributes to the delivery of strategic initiatives

Desired Skills and Experience

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in financial planning or relevant degree with alignment to FASEA education standards or working towards (mandatory)
  • RG146 compliant (mandatory)
  • Current driver licence (mandatory)

Desired skills & experience:

  • Five years financial planning experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality personal advice
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service
  • Superior conflict resolution skills and the capacity to handle difficulties in a calm and positive manner
  • Excellent understanding of superannuation and financial services industry
  • Willingness to continually update knowledge
  • Superior communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to co-ordinate workflow and meet deadlines
  • Advanced IT skills, able to efficiently and effectively use all Microsoft Office programs and business specific software, continually upskill on software required to perform role
